Globe boosts network readiness to minimize outages during power disruptions

Globe Telecom Inc. is strengthening its network operations to keep customers connected during power outages and reduce service interruptions.

The company has expanded backup power systems, including batteries and mobile generators, and improved how resources are deployed across the country. It has also tightened contingency plans in key network sites, especially in parts of Visayas and Mindanao that are more prone to disruptions.

These steps aim to keep services running longer during outages and allow faster restoration when problems occur. Globe said pre-positioning equipment and teams in high-risk areas helps cut downtime and restore connectivity more quickly.

“Our priority is to ensure that our network remains available, especially during challenging conditions,” said Globe vice president for network operations Cris Crisostomo.

Field engineers are central to these efforts, with teams deployed nationwide to monitor systems, secure infrastructure, and carry out repairs. Mark Jurial, Globe head of regional operation  in Mindanao, said teams prepare in advance to respond quickly and limit the impact on communities.

Globe is also working with government partners, including the Department of Energy, National Power Corporation, and Department of Information and Communications Technology, to ensure resources are available during disruptions.

The company said these improvements will help customers stay connected during extended brownouts, with faster recovery times and fewer interruptions—especially during emergencies when reliable communication is critical.
