PAL expands North American network with second A350-1000 for Manila-Toronto route

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) has strengthened its North American operations by putting its second Airbus A350-1000 into service on the Manila-Toronto route, a key step in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization plan. This new aircraft joins the carrier’s first A350-1000, which currently flies the Manila-New York route, giving PAL two premium long-haul gateways in North America served by its newest and largest aircraft type.

Configured with 382 seats across business, premium economy, and economy cabins, the A350-1000 offers improved comfort and modern amenities for all passengers. It is also designed for better fuel efficiency and significantly expanded cargo capacity, enabling higher volume shipments between North America and the Philippines, with seamless connections to PAL’s domestic and regional freight network. PAL is the first and only airline in Southeast Asia to operate this ultra-long-range model, and it has committed to acquiring nine units in total.

The expansion comes alongside strong financial and operational results. In the first quarter of 2026, PAL recorded a net income of $78.77 million, a 2.6 percent rise year-on-year, while total revenue reached $895.70 million, up 9.7 percent. In 2025, industry analytics firm Cirium named PAL the most punctual airline in the Asia-Pacific region.

PAL operates a mixed fleet of Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft from hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao. Its network covers 30 domestic destinations and 41 international points across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.

This development boosts connectivity for travelers and traders, reinforces PAL’s position as a leading long-haul carrier in the region, and supports the airline’s recovery and growth amid rising travel demand.
