Manila Water is advancing the Batasan–Balara Flow Diversion Project to improve water quality, boost sanitation, and protect public health in Quezon City and Marikina. The setup redirects wastewater away from local creeks and rivers to the Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant for proper processing.
Key works include two lift stations and new pipelines. The Vista Real Creek system is already operational, while pipelaying is 90 percent finished as of April 2026. The project benefits over 5,700 households and expands sewer coverage in crowded areas.
It also helps meet the Clean Water Act and supports Manila Bay rehabilitation. The treatment plant, built in 2016, can process up to 100 million liters daily. Manila Water says the effort reflects its commitment to environmental care and community service.
