Megaworld Hotels & Resorts is laying out more welcome mats across the country.
Already the Philippines’ largest hotel operator by room count, the company is targeting a 10,000-key portfolio within the next two to three years as it accelerates expansion across major tourism and business destinations.
The goal would add roughly 2,000 rooms to its current inventory of more than 8,000 keys, reflecting a steady pipeline of new hotel developments tied to Megaworld’s township projects.
“Right now, we are 8,000 something. We are really projecting 10,000 rooms for inventory in the next two to three years,” Group Commercial Director Loleth So said.
The growth strategy is built on a simple formula. Megaworld continues to develop new properties, while Megaworld Hotels & Resorts takes over operations once they are completed.
“Megaworld as an owner does not stop from building hotels. As an operator, Megaworld Hotels and Resorts also does not stop from operating hotels that are turned over to us,” So said. “As they grow, we also grow as a group.”
The latest addition arrives this week with the opening of Belmont Hotel in Iloilo Business Park, further strengthening the company’s presence in the Visayas.
More projects are in the pipeline, with new properties typically ranging from 400 to 500 rooms and planned across multiple destinations beyond the group’s existing hubs.
The expansion is expected to deepen the reach of Megaworld’s homegrown hotel brands, which include Belmont, Kingsford, Twin Lakes, Grand West and Richmonde.
For Megaworld, the strategy goes beyond simply adding rooms. Each new hotel is designed to complement integrated township developments that combine residential, commercial, leisure and business components in a single destination.
With domestic tourism continuing to recover and business travel gaining momentum, the company sees ample room for growth.
If current plans stay on track, Megaworld could reach the 10,000-room milestone within a few years, extending its lead in a hospitality sector that is once again finding its stride.
