McDonald’s, Megawide expand partnership for early learning programs

As the new school year approaches, McDonald’s Philippines, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines and Megawide Foundation have renewed their commitment to early childhood education with the reopening of the refurbished Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Barangay Mambog IV, Bacoor City.

The reopening coincides with the learning center’s 15th anniversary, marking more than a decade of providing preschool-aged children with a safe environment that helps prepare them for formal education.

The renovation, supported by Megawide Construction and Megawide Foundation, represents the foundation’s first refurbishment of a Bahay Bulilit Learning Center and signals a deeper collaboration between the two organizations. Beginning in 2027, Megawide Foundation also plans to help construct additional Bahay Bulilit centers across the country.

“For the past 15 years, this center has helped provide young learners with a strong foundation for their educational journey,” said RMHC Philippines President Kenneth S. Yang. “As we reopen its doors, we are renewing our commitment to ensuring that future generations of children have access to safe, nurturing and engaging learning environments.”

RMHC Philippines currently operates 56 Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers nationwide, each serving around 90 to 100 children annually by developing foundational literacy, social and life skills before they enter kindergarten.

The initiative highlights the growing role of private sector partnerships in addressing gaps in early childhood education, an area widely recognized as critical to improving long-term learning outcomes and human capital development.

Megawide Foundation President Teresa C. Saavedra said quality learning spaces help shape children’s futures while strengthening communities, adding that the partnership reflects the foundation’s long-term investment in education.

Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla likewise emphasized the value of collaboration between local governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations, noting that investments in young learners yield lasting social and economic benefits.

Beyond restoring a classroom, the refurbished Bahay Bulilit Learning Center demonstrates how sustained partnerships can expand access to quality preschool education, giving more Filipino children a stronger start while helping build more inclusive and resilient communities.
