Marcos, DA lead audit of Navotas Fish Port modernization

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Agriculture have inspected ongoing rehabilitation works at the Navotas Fish Port Complex, a key fisheries hub serving Metro Manila and most of Luzon. Led by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority, the project will expand the facility by nearly 25 hectares and upgrade the almost 50-year-old complex. Phase one covering the shipyard is set to finish by December 2026, while market halls will be upgraded by June 2027. The initiative aims to cut post-harvest losses, boost food security, raise fisherfolk incomes, and strengthen the port’s standing as one of Southeast Asia’s largest seafood trading centers. Around 30,000 people depend directly on the facility, rising to 50,000 in peak season. Earlier this month, the government confirmed a P1.6 billion budget for this project and a new modern fish port in San Vicente, Palawan.
