Filipinos can continue traveling to Taiwan without a visa for another year after Taipei extended its visa-free entry program until July 31, 2027, reinforcing efforts to boost tourism, business travel and people-to-people ties with the Philippines.
The extension allows Philippine passport holders to enter Taiwan visa-free from Aug. 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027, following a review by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and other government agencies of visa facilitation measures under its New Southbound Policy.
The policy aims to deepen Taiwan’s economic, tourism and cultural engagement with Southeast Asia and other regional partners while diversifying trade and investment links.
The latest extension also covers passport holders from Thailand and Brunei, reflecting Taipei’s confidence that the program has successfully encouraged travel while maintaining border security.
For Philippine travelers, the move removes one of the biggest barriers to visiting Taiwan, making the destination more attractive for holidays, business trips, family visits and short-term travel.
Taiwan is also extending until Dec. 31, 2027 its Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-End Group Tourists from Southeast Asian Countries. In addition, eligible travelers from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos will continue to benefit from the conditional visa-free entry scheme through the Online Application for an ROC (Taiwan) Travel Authorization Certificate.
Cambodian nationals, however, will no longer be covered by the high-end group tour and Travel Authorization Certificate programs beginning Aug. 1, 2026.
MOFA said it will continue reviewing its visa policies to attract more international visitors, strengthen bilateral cooperation with partner economies and safeguard border security. The ministry also pledged to work with partner governments to further improve travel arrangements for Taiwanese citizens.
The extension comes as travel demand between the Philippines and Taiwan continues to recover, supported by expanding air connectivity, growing tourism exchanges and stronger business links, giving airlines, travel operators and hospitality businesses another boost as cross-border travel gains momentum.
