Globe-backed Messenger calls, video prove better, faster at its network than the competition

Globe Telecom has partnered with Meta as part of the broad plan to improve the quality of voice and video calls on applications like Messenger in the country.

By ensuring both the app and Globe network are aligned to meet the expected quality of user experience, the Ayala-led telco said the collaboration improves the real-time communication (RTC) of the voice and video calls of its users.

Globe said Messenger call quality since the collaboration has seen a 22 percent improvement, with a 10 percent increase in bitrate and a 23 percent reduction in round-trip time (RTT). Measured in milliseconds, the RTT relates to the time a request and its response travels through a network. The lower the number the better its responsiveness and the better the application is rated as a service.

“This marks a milestone in enhancing mobile user experience in the Philippines. We’re happy with the remarkable improvement in our real-time communication services, reflecting our commitment to innovative customer solutions,” Darius Delgado, head of Consumer Mobile Business at Globe, said.

Joel Agustin, senior vice president and head of Network Planning and Engineering at Globe Telecom said the collaboration allows the company to deploy advanced solutions for an unparalleled real-time experience in the Philippines and showcases its goal of elevating service quality and improving user experience.
