Subsidiary firm Alternergy Tanay Wind Corp. has cleared the all-important height clearance requirement from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for its 100 megawatt (MW) wind power project in Tanay, Rizal, according to its parent, the renewable energy developer Alternergy Holdings Corp.
Gerry Magbanua, Alternergy president, said this key permitting milestone allows the company to proceed with the development of the project.
“The Tanay wind project’s height clearance went through a painstaking and thorough process of technical studies and consultations with government aviation authorities with inputs from international and local aviation experts,” Knud Hedeager, Alternergy director, said.
The clearance also proves the wind turbine generators will not in any way create interference with so-called aviation navigational pathways and ensure the safety of their operation.
Since 2019, the enterprise had been analyzing wind resource data in the area adjacent to the proven wind resources of Alternergy’s 54 MW Pililla, Rizal wind farm.
Alternergy looks to develop up to 1,370 MW of additional wind, solar and run-of-river hydro projects over the next five years.
