SEC achieves Level 3 certification at PQA program

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has earned Level 3 certification at the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA) for Mastery in Quality Management, becoming the first national government agency to achieve the distinction, excluding government-owned corporations, state universities, colleges, and state hospitals. The PQA, modeled after the U.S. Malcolm Baldrige Framework, is the country’s highest recognition for organizational performance, established by Executive Order No. 448 in 1997 and institutionalized by the Philippine Quality Award Act of 2001.

SEC chairman Emilio B. Aquino said the recognition is just the beginning of a sustained journey toward organizational excellence, emphasizing their focus on operational performance, agility, and setting new standards in public service. “We are determined to reach for the highest level of the PQA,” Aquino said.

The Level 3 award is granted to organizations demonstrating superior results linked to a robust management system. PQA assessments evaluate leadership, strategy, customer management, workforce development, and operational efficiency. DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, chairperson of the PQA Committee, said the SEC’s achievement aligns with the administration’s vision for a more efficient and world-class public service.
