Emperador names Glenn Manlapaz as new president

Emperador Inc., the liquor company owned by tycoon Andrew Tan, announced a leadership transition with the appointment of Glenn D. Manlapaz as president, replacing Winston Co.

Co stepped down from the presidency citing personal reasons, but he will remain deeply involved with the company as a director, board chairman, and head of the executive committee.

In a related move, Katherine L. Tan also relinquished her roles as board director and executive committee member, while retaining her position as company treasurer. Her decision appears to pave the way for Manlapaz’s entry into the company’s highest leadership circle. His appointment took effect on Tuesday, July 1.

Manlapaz, 54, brings more than two decades of experience in the global liquor industry. Prior to this new role, he served as Emperador’s Chief Executive Officer and formerly as President for Asia and the Pacific at Emperador International. He joined Emperador Distillers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, in 2014 as Regional Managing Director for Asia.

Before joining Emperador, Manlapaz held senior leadership roles at global beverage giant Diageo, serving as Managing Director for the Philippines and General Manager for Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and an MBA from De La Salle University.

The leadership reshuffle signals a strengthening of Emperador’s regional and international management bench, potentially reinforcing the company’s global expansion strategy.
