DA lifts poultry import ban on Australia

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the ban on the importation of poultry products from Australia, including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs, and semen. The decision comes after Australian authorities and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) confirmed the country is now free of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), with no new cases reported since 13 June 2025.

The ban, initially imposed under DA Memorandum Order No. 21, was revoked in Memorandum Order No. 39 following a risk assessment that deemed further importation safe. Poultry goods produced in Australia on or after July 25 will now be allowed entry into the Philippines, subject to existing biosecurity and sanitary requirements.

Strict health certifications and import protocols will remain in place, and any non-compliance may result in shipment denial or quarantine. The DA will continue monitoring global avian flu developments and adjust import policies as needed.
