SMC waives expressway tolls on Christmas and New Year’s eves

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) will waive toll fees on all its expressways on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to help ease holiday travel.

The free toll period will run from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Dec. 24–25 and again from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Dec. 31–Jan. 1, 2026. The waiver covers the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

SMC said the move aims to help motorists traveling late at night to reach their families during the holidays.

To manage heavier traffic, SMC Infrastructure has placed more patrol, security, and emergency personnel on alert starting Dec. 20. Traffic monitoring centers are operating 24/7, roadworks are suspended until Jan. 4, 2026, and tow trucks and emergency vehicles are positioned at key areas.

Motorists are advised to plan trips ahead, allow extra travel time, and make sure their Autosweep accounts have enough balance. SMC also said it is coordinating with local governments and national agencies to help manage traffic on roads connected to the expressways.
