Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports post strong passenger growth in 2025

Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) said its airport portfolio handled a total of 16.7 million passenger arrivals in 2025, reflecting strong demand for air travel in the Visayas and Northern Mindanao and highlighting the growing role of its airports in regional development.

The performance was led by Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), which recorded 11.6 million passengers, up 3 percent from the previous year. MCIA remains the busiest airport outside Metro Manila.

Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) in Misamis Oriental and Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) added 2.35 million and 2.22 million passengers, respectively. Together, LIA and BPIA logged 2.67 million passengers in the months after their turnover to AIC in mid-2025, underscoring the early gains from AIC’s airport operations.

LIA and BPIA rank as the country’s sixth- and ninth-busiest airports, reinforcing the strength of AIC’s regional airport network.

AIC said the record passenger volume was achieved despite major disruptions in the region, including strong earthquakes in Cebu and Davao Oriental and typhoons that affected Western Visayas, showing the resilience of air travel demand and airport operations.

The company said improved connectivity helped drive growth. MCIA, named Airport of the Year – Asia at the TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards 2025, launched new exclusive nonstop routes, including flights to Siquijor and San Vicente, Palawan. It also rolled out connectivity programs such as CEB Connects, CEB+, and CEB Balik, which supported higher passenger traffic across AIC’s airports.

AIC said the strong performance highlights the expanding role of its airports in supporting tourism, business travel, and economic growth in key regional hubs.
