Dubai Chamber opens Manila office to boost trade

The Dubai International Chamber has officially opened its first representative office in Manila, signaling a stronger push to deepen trade and investment ties between Dubai and the Philippines.

The April 14 launch marks a strategic expansion under the “Dubai Global” initiative, which aims to establish 50 offices worldwide by 2030. The Manila outpost is expected to serve as a bridge for businesses in both markets, offering market intelligence, facilitating partnerships, and supporting cross-border expansion.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and chief executive officer of Dubai Chambers, said the move reflects Dubai’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with one of its fastest-growing Southeast Asian partners. Non-oil trade between the two markets reached AED3.58 billion in 2025, up 17 percent year-on-year.

The growing economic link is also evident in business presence. As of end-2025, 2,592 Filipino companies were active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, a 23.3 percent increase from the previous year. New registrations totaled 856 in 2025 alone.

The Manila office will help Filipino firms tap Dubai as a gateway to global markets while assisting Dubai-based companies seeking entry into the Philippine economy. It will also work closely with both public and private sector stakeholders to identify investment opportunities and streamline market entry.

The launch event drew over 100 government officials and business leaders, including Louise Araneta-Marcos and Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Qatam Alzaabi, underscoring the growing bilateral engagement.

The opening builds on momentum from a May 2025 trade mission that facilitated 180 business meetings and led to a cooperation agreement with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

With trade flows rising and business linkages expanding, the new office positions Manila as a key node in Dubai’s broader strategy to strengthen its footprint across high-growth markets.
