SSS, RCBC team up to widen digital microloans

The Social Security System (SSS) and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand digital access to short-term credit, rolling out the pension fund’s LoanLite facility through RCBC’s mobile platform.

The partnership enables eligible members to apply for small cash loans via the DiskarTech app, adding a new digital channel aimed at improving accessibility and convenience. Qualified SSS members can borrow between Php 1,000 and Php 20,000, with repayment terms ranging from 15 to 90 days, subject to applicable rates.

The LoanLite facility offers a fully digital process—from application and approval to disbursement—designed to deliver faster access to funds for everyday financial needs.

SSS president and chief executive officer Robert Joseph M. de Claro said the initiative addresses the need for manageable, short-term financing options. “Through SSS LoanLite, we are providing a secure and convenient digital channel for members to access timely financial support,” he said during the signing.

RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva said the collaboration underscores the bank’s push to broaden financial inclusion through partnerships with government institutions. He noted that unexpected expenses can quickly strain household budgets, adding the program aims to deliver “real and meaningful financial relief” for Filipinos.

The agreement builds on earlier collaboration between the two institutions, including the MySSS Card powered by DiskarTech, which expanded access to basic financial services. RCBC said it aims to be the first bank to roll out the LoanLite offering under the partnership.

DiskarTech, RCBC’s financial inclusion app, has been recognized in regional studies, including a Mastercard whitepaper, for helping bring underserved segments into the formal banking system, supporting broader efforts to digitize financial services in the Philippines.
