SBMA launched expanded relief package for stakeholders

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is rolling out a new set of relief measures aimed at easing economic pressures on stakeholders in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). The announcement follows a public consultation held on May 11, 2026, at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC).

SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator for Support Services Atty. Ramon O. Agregado said the interventions, outlined in Board Resolution No. 26-04-1768 and related issuances approved last April, are part of a broader effort to support locators, workers, and tourism-related enterprises affected by the State of National Energy Emergency declared under Executive Order No. 110.

The expanded package includes a 50 percent reduction in the Road Users’ Fee (RUF) for Class 3 vehicles, with any planned increases deferred, lowering transport and logistics costs within the Freeport. The Environment and Tourism Administrative Fee (ETAF) for short-term visitors in accommodations and tourism establishments is also suspended, providing immediate relief to the sector.

For workers, SBMA is offering free electronic renewal of SBMA IDs and discounted fees for physical ID renewals. Locators benefit from the Economic Relief Assistance Program (ERA 4), which allows up to 50 percent deferral of monthly lease and sublease payments for six months, subject to eligibility.

“These measures provide immediate financial breathing space while ensuring operational stability across the Freeport amid global energy-driven inflationary pressures,” Agregado said.

SBMA emphasized that the expanded package reinforces its commitment to sustaining business activity, protecting employment, and cushioning the Freeport community from external economic shocks.
