PAL takes delivery of second A350-1000

Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flag carrier, has received its second Airbus A350-1000, continuing its fleet modernization program. This unit follows the first delivery in December 2025 and is part of a nine-aircraft order, making PAL the first and only airline in Southeast Asia to operate this aircraft model.

Built for long-distance routes, the A350-1000 offers better fuel efficiency, reliability, passenger comfort, and lower environmental impact, directly supporting the airline’s expanding services between the Philippines and North America. PAL president Richard Nuttall noted the new plane will strengthen long-haul operations, improve travel experience, and back the airline’s modernization goals amid rising international travel demand.

The arrival comes as PAL sustains strong growth following its successful recovery: it recorded a $78.77 million net income in the first quarter of 2026 (up 2.6 percent year-on-year) and $895.70 million in total revenue (a 9.7 percent increase). In 2025, aviation firm Cirium named PAL the most punctual airline in the Asia-Pacific.

Operating from hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao, PAL currently serves 30 domestic and 41 international destinations across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East with its mixed fleet of Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft.

This development marks a major step in upgrading Philippine aviation infrastructure, enhancing the country’s connectivity to global markets, and aligning with cleaner, more efficient travel standards. It also underscores PAL’s financial stability and industry leadership, reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a key air transport hub in Southeast Asia.
