Four major industry players—Ayala Corporation, Globe Telecom, Mitsubishi Corp., and KDDI Corp.—have partnered to develop the country’s first Intelligent City, with Makati Central Business District chosen as the pilot site. The project will use data, digital tools, high-speed connectivity, Internet of Things systems, and artificial intelligence to improve how Filipinos live, work, and grow in urban areas. It will cover key sectors including mobility, retail, energy, and connectivity, plus build unified smart platforms to run these services efficiently.
Ayala Corp. president and CEO Cezar Consing noted the company’s long-standing focus on uplifting communities, saying the initiative will turn Makati into an innovation hub where technology and people work together for the public good. Globe prrsident and CEO Carl Cruz emphasized connectivity as essential to progress and development, describing it as a vital service that gives all Filipinos access to opportunities and digital tools needed to move forward.
This partnership is a major step in national development. It will not only modernize Makati’s business district but also serve as a blueprint for other cities across the country. The project aims to make communities safer, smarter, and better connected, while helping businesses innovate, expanding inclusive opportunities, and strengthening the country’s economic resilience and competitiveness. By combining resources and expertise, these companies show how collaboration and technology can drive meaningful change and improve lives nationwide.
