Manila Water completes infra upgrades, advances treatment plant project

Manila Water has finished three major facility improvement projects as part of its effort to strengthen water supply services amid El Niño and climate challenges. The completed works include upgrades at Balara Treatment Plant, surge protection at Siruna Pumping Station, and rehabilitation of Daang Hari Reservoir. These projects boost safety, system reliability and operational efficiency.

Work is also ongoing at the East La Mesa Treatment Plant in Quezon City, one of the company’s largest facilities. The 70 percent complete improvement project targets better ventilation, corrosion protection and workplace safety. Full completion is set for late 2026.

According to company officials, these upgrades support the delivery of continuous water service to over 7.9 million customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal, while building resilience against weather-related risks.
