Musinsa picks Philippines as K-fashion hub

South Korean fashion platform Musinsa is making the Philippines a springboard for its Southeast Asian ambitions, betting that the country’s young consumers can help turn Korean fashion’s popularity into a bigger retail business.

Musinsa will open its first physical store in the Philippines this year, starting with a Musinsa Standard outlet at Glorietta in Makati City in the second half.

The move follows its July 17 exclusive distribution partnership with ACX Holdings Corp., the retail and distribution arm of Ayala Corp., which will provide the local network and market expertise needed to build the brand’s presence.

The Philippines is an increasingly important market for Musinsa, with a population of more than 110 million and a young consumer base that has shown strong interest in Korean brands. The Korea Herald reported that transaction value on Musinsa’s global store in the Philippines grew by an average of about 50 percent annually from 2023 to 2025.

“The Philippines is a strategically important market with strong growth potential,” a Musinsa official said, citing growing consumer interest in Korean fashion.

The partnership gives Musinsa something that online sales alone cannot provide, a physical foothold in one of Southeast Asia’s more dynamic consumer markets.

Meanwhile, the deal adds another international brand to ACX Retail’s portfolio that already includes Australian retailer Anko, Thailand’s Makro, and Dubai-based Spinneys.

The Ayala partnership could also give Musinsa a faster route through the country’s retail maze. Local distribution, mall access, and market knowledge matter in a fashion business where brand discovery increasingly happens both on screens and in stores.

Musinsa’s Philippine push therefore looks less like a single-store experiment and more like a regional test run. If the Glorietta launch resonates, the company will have a ready-made platform for expanding its physical footprint while tapping the Philippines’ growing appetite for Korean fashion.

It is another bet by Ayala on a familiar formula, bringing global consumer brands to Filipino shoppers and building them into long-term businesses.
