Monitoring and weather assessments link the condition to smoke from ongoing fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, carried to the country by prevailing winds.
Prolonged exposure to haze can harm respiratory and cardiovascular health, with children, older adults, and those with existing medical conditions facing the greatest risk. To reduce these effects, the public is advised to limit time outdoors in affected areas, wear a well-fitting N95 or equivalent mask when outside, and stay updated through official government announcements.
