Ayala Land-backed REIT strengthens leadership to drive growth, financing and long-term value creation
Areit Inc., the real estate investment trust sponsored by Ayala Land Inc., has appointed Eduardo Javier P. Carballo as chief operating officer, effective September 7. The appointment bolsters the company’s leadership and financial capabilities as it advances its expansion and portfolio growth goals.
Carballo brings over 25 years of extensive experience across debt capital markets, treasury strategy, investment banking and large-scale financing, with a career spanning Asia-Pacific, the United States, Europe and key emerging markets. He will report directly to Areit president and CEO Alberto M. de Larrazabal.
His addition strengthens Areit’s core strengths in financing strategy, portfolio management, corporate governance and operational delivery—areas critical to broadening the REIT’s capital base, expanding its asset portfolio and building the organizational capacity required for sustained long-term growth.
“As we enter our next phase, we need to build the capabilities to match our ambition and scale,” de Larrazabal stated. “Javi brings deep expertise in capital markets and financing, as well as a strong understanding of institutional investors and financial markets. His experience will be valuable as we continue to grow Areit and create long-term value for our stakeholders.”
Throughout his career, Carballo has advised chief executives, finance heads and boards on capital structure optimization, funding strategy, investor relations and sustainable financing solutions. In regional leadership roles, he has led roughly $20 billion in bond issuances and an equivalent volume in loan financings, with broad involvement in green, sustainability-linked and transition financing transactions across Asia.
Before joining Areit, Carballo served as managing director and head of debt capital markets for Southeast Asia and India at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank in Singapore from 2022 to June 2026. Earlier, he headed the bank’s debt capital markets business in Hong Kong and held a senior origination role in New York, also with Crédit Agricole.
