SAFC loan releases rise 19% on vehicle financing demand

SAFC recorded an 19 percent increase in loan disbursements to P1.48 billion in the third quarter of 2026, supported by sustained demand for vehicle financing and refinancing among Filipino households and entrepreneurs.

The financing company processed 2,860 loan accounts during the quarter, with monthly releases rising from P473.41 million in July to P478.64 million in August and P527.35 million in September, reflecting a steady acceleration in lending activity.

Pre-owned car financing accounted for the largest share of disbursements at P592.55 million, followed by car refinancing at P538.25 million and truck refinancing at P205.14 million. Together, the three products generated P1.34 billion, or about 90 percent of total quarterly releases.

SAFC President and CEO Maricel Dejongoy attributed the growth to rising financing needs tied to mobility and livelihood activities, underscoring the role of vehicle financing in helping households and small business owners access economic opportunities.

“Beyond SAFC’s sales milestones, these achievements represent Filipinos who now have the financing they need to move forward, whether by providing a vehicle for their livelihood or access to new opportunities,” Dejongoy said.

The company’s JUANAsenso financing products also gained traction among women entrepreneurs. Car refinancing under the program generated P175.54 million, while truck refinancing contributed P98.15 million, highlighting demand for financing solutions that support business operations and income generation.

Despite higher lending volumes, SAFC maintained a 97.7-percent performing loan ratio on its P6.7-billion portfolio as of September. Nonperforming loans accounted for the remaining 2.3 percent, indicating that asset quality remained relatively stable alongside portfolio expansion.

Chief Operating Officer Azenith Cabrera said the company would continue balancing lending growth with credit discipline.

For the fourth quarter, SAFC plans to strengthen branch operations, sales partnerships and financing access in underserved markets. Its next challenge will be sustaining disbursement growth while preserving repayment quality, particularly as broader economic conditions influence borrowers’ capacity to meet their obligations.
