Mynt earmarks P5.5B for digital finance expansion

Mynt, the parent company of GCash, is channeling more than P5.5 billion of its nearly P10 billion in initial public offering (IPO) proceeds into digital financial services, signaling a strategic shift beyond payments as the fintech firm pursues more diversified revenue streams.

Joseph Tang, GCash assistant vice president and head of capital markets and investor relations, said approximately 60 percent of the funds raised would support lending, insurance and wealth management. Another 20 percent would finance product deployment, while the remaining 20 percent would cover general corporate purposes.

The allocation aligns with Mynt’s medium-term ambition to generate equal revenue contributions from payments and digital financial services. In the first half of 2026, payments accounted for 57 percent of revenues, compared with 43 percent from digital financial services.

The figures suggest the company is making progress toward diversification, although payments remain its larger revenue source. Expanding lending and wealth management could create additional income opportunities, but sustained growth will depend on customer adoption, responsible credit management and the ability to scale services profitably.

Tang said Mynt subjected its IPO to extensive investor scrutiny, engaging 137 unique investors initially, conducting 230 investor engagements and involving approximately 110 investors in the final round. He said the process helped establish confidence in the offering’s pricing, investor demand and order book stability.

Meanwhile, Darvin Sy Su, GCash general manager for wealth management, said around 140,000 users subscribed to the IPO through GStocks PH, including first-time investors drawn by the listing.

About 70 percent of these subscribers had been GCash customers for more than two years, highlighting the platform’s potential to turn an established digital payments user base into a broader investment market.

The challenge now is converting that initial interest into sustained participation. Mynt’s post-IPO performance will depend not only on deploying capital effectively, but also on building trust, expanding access and ensuring that its growing financial services portfolio delivers durable returns.
