DA allocates P97.91M to boost Bukidnon indigenous coffee sector

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is rolling out P97.91 million in projects to support coffee growers in the Daraghuyan Ancestral Domain, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, under the World Bank-funded Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP).

This funding marks a key investment in strengthening the local coffee value chain, turning the community’s award-winning high-quality Arabica coffee into more stable incomes and better market opportunities for indigenous farmers. The package covers critical infrastructure and enterprise support—two farm-to-market roads valued at P51 million, a P10.45 million multi-commodity warehouse and drying facility, a P14.76 million coffee processing and marketing enterprise, plus water supply and irrigation systems worth over P21 million combined.

Project Director Macario Gonzaga noted the investments aim to lift productivity, build climate resilience, and connect farmers more directly to buyers. He commended the Daraghuyan community for its strong cooperation and proven excellence in coffee production. MIADP is a P6.6 billion national initiative designed to reduce poverty among Mindanao’s indigenous and farming communities through market-ready, climate-friendly agricultural development.
