Masando Hashimoto’s Philippine assignment is taking him to a bigger regional stage, with Toyota Motor Corp. naming the Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) president chief executive officer of its Asia Region effective January 1, 2027.
Hashimoto will take on the new role at Toyota Motor Asia as part of the Japanese automaker’s organizational and management restructuring. He succeeds Masahiko Maeda, who will become senior fellow.
The appointment puts Hashimoto in charge of a broader regional mandate, drawing on his experience managing local subsidiaries and working across Asian markets. Toyota said his familiarity with frontline operations in different countries would help strengthen regional coordination and steer the next phase of management.
Hashimoto joined TMP in 2023 as senior vice president for marketing before becoming its president in 2024, making him the company’s youngest executive to hold the position. He also chairs Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines Inc., the automaker’s wholly owned mobility services subsidiary.
His career, however, spans well beyond the Philippine market.
A graduate of Keio University with a degree in policy management, Hashimoto began his manufacturing career at Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. in 2000, taking assignments in Japan and India.
He joined Toyota Motor Corp. in 2007 through its Australia, Asia and Middle East Business Division, where he gained experience in sales, business planning, distribution, and human resource management.
In 2015, he became group manager of Toyota Planning Division No. 1 before moving to Toyota Motor Thailand a year later as senior division coordinator, overseeing distribution operations.
He was promoted to department general manager of the Sales & Operation Planning Division in 2020, further deepening his regional management experience.
His successive assignments across major Asian markets gave him exposure to the commercial and operational differences shaping Toyota’s regional businesses, experience the automaker now expects him to bring to its Asia-wide leadership role.
His departure to the regional post also marks a significant transition for TMP, with the Philippine operation having served as his latest leadership assignment before his elevation to Toyota’s broader Asia management.
