Globe Telecom Inc. over the weekend said its download and upload speeds further improved in 19 strategic locations in the third quarter of 2023.

The areas that logged significant improvements in download speeds for Globe include Candelaria, Quezon, with 138.38 percent; Poro Point, Cebu with 111.96 percent; Mabinay, Negros Oriental with 94.36 percent; Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan with 93.48 percent; and Lemery, Iloilo rounding the top five with 69.54 percent.
Further notable advancements were observed in the following areas: Pinamungahan, Cebu (52.83 percent); Bontoc, Southern Leyte (33.7 percent); Abuyog, Leyte (18.63 percent); San Francisco, Cebu (17.54 percent); Tubod, Lanao del Norte (11.85 percent); Santo Tomas, Batangas (10.94 percent); Sibalom, Antique (9.39 percent); Badiangan, Iloilo (8.05 percent)’ Palompon, Leyte (6.56 percent); Calauag, Quezon (4.89 percent); Tanjay City, Negros Oriental (3.61 percent); Dumangas, Iloilo (2.29 percent); Mexico, Pampanga (1.66 percent); and Mandaluyong, Metro Manila (1.13 percent).
These improvements show gains of Globe’s continuing network buildup to elevate customer experience. As of the third quarter this year, Globe has built 833 new cell sites and upgraded 5,395 mobile sites.
The company has also deployed 175,000 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines, notably lower than last year’s rollout to maximize the utilization of its existing fiber inventory and this year’s reduction in capex.
On expanding its 5G technology nationwide, Globe similarly deployed 716 new 5G sites across the country, increasing its 5G outdoor coverage to 97.67 percent of the National Capital Region and 92.06 percent of key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Globe likewise logged 5.2 million 5G devices in its 5G network in September this year.
As of End-September, Globe invested P54 billion as capital expenditure (capex) to expand its network.
