Toyota commits enough Veloz models to supply JoyRide’s super taxi service

Toyota Manila Bay Corporation (TMBC), a joint venture between GT Capital Holdings, Inc. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., vowed to supply enough of the Toyota Veloz models for the expansion of JoyRide Philippines’ “super taxi” service.

“We are now talking with JoyRide and prepare enough numbers to supply the Philippine market,” Tatsuro Okazaki, TMBC president, said.

Noli Eala, JoyRide senior vice president for Corporate Affairs, confirmed the standard model for its Super Taxi service is the Toyota Veloz.

“The Toyota Veloz was chosen for its comfort and spacious interior, its sleek, modern design and advanced features. This choice perfectly aligns with our vision of offering commuters a superior transportation experience,” he added.

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s JPN Taxi, the JoyRide Super Taxi is designed to enhance passenger comfort, convenience, and safety, all at the regular metered taxi fare rate.

This next-generation taxi unit sports a sleek black exterior, a spacious five-seater cab, high roofing, generous trunk space, a modern digital toplight, and additional onboard amenities, including an in-cabin infotainment system and multiple USB charging ports for passengers, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

JoyRide has deployed 25 Super Taxi units in Metro Manila, all of which are Toyota Veloz that commuters may hail directly on the street (“parahin”) or conveniently book through the JoyRide Super app. The business is gearing to rapidly increase its Super Taxi fleet next year.

JoyRide iss the Philippines’ first and only homegrown super app offering a diverse range of ride-hailing and delivery services. It aims to be the premier mobility company in the country.

Renowned for its motorcycle taxi service, JoyRide has played a pivotal role in disrupting the prevailing ride-hailing monopoly in the country. It has since expanded beyond 2-wheel services to include 4-wheel options such as JoyRide Car and JoyRide Taxi Cab.

Since it started in December 2019, JoyRide has garnered over 5 million app downloads and boasts of an extensive network of over 30,000 2-wheel and 4-wheel driver-partners across Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Cebu, and Baguio City. The business is set to expand its services in Pampanga and Ilocos Norte.
