The Philippines and Australia on Thursday launched in Manila the Development Partnership Plan 2024-2029 (DPP) where Australia commits capacity building and development programs worth billions each year.
At the event, Jan Adams AO PSM, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, emphasized the DPP’s goal of achieving sustainable, long-term outcomes aligned with the Philippines’ development priorities.
Australia has committed over P4 billion (AUD104 million) annually to support capacity building and development in the Philippines, with a focus on stability, economic growth, and resilience. This includes P3.6 billion (AUD94.2 million) in official development assistance. Over the past 20 years, Australia has invested over P63 billion (AUD1.6 billion) in the country.
Key areas of collaboration under the DPP include peacebuilding efforts in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, support for economic reforms, and initiatives addressing climate change and disaster risk reduction. Australian Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. HK Yu noted the DPP’s role in shaping a peaceful and prosperous region.
NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan reaffirmed the commitment to collaborate with Australia for impactful solutions.
