DOF holds workshop on People’s Survival Fund

The Department of Finance (DOF) has conducted a project implementation-capacity building workshop in September aimed at streamlining the People’s Survival Fund (PSF) process for local government unit (LGU) beneficiaries.

The initiative seeks to accelerate climate and disaster resilience efforts in the Philippines.

Undersecretary Maria Luwalhati Dorotan Tiuseco emphasized the workshop’s role in improving the efficiency of PSF project implementation, saying, “We envision the PSF to be the standard of locally-led adaptation funds in the world.”

Participants included LGU representatives, the Climate Change Commission (CCC), and development partners like the UNDP and ADB. The workshop covered PSF policies, technical requirements, and strategies to enhance LGU access to funding.

Since its inception, the PSF has committed P1 billion to 19 LGUs, with 13 already receiving grants for local adaptation projects. The DOF is also advocating for an additional P1 billion from the national budget to further support climate finance initiatives.
