Local aerospace milestone: Collins Aerospace and PAL partner on innovative seating

In a significant development for the Philippine aerospace sector, Collins Aerospace has teamed up with Philippine Airlines (PAL) to equip the airline’s narrow-body fleet with Pinnacle seats, a move that highlights the growing capabilities of local manufacturing.

“This collaboration represents a pivotal step forward for the Philippines’ aerospace industry,” said Mary DeStaffan, senior director of operations at Collins Aerospace Philippines. “Expanding our main cabin seating production at our local facility is a testament to our world-class capabilities and the potential for further growth in the aerospace sector.”

The Pinnacle seats, celebrated for their comfort and durability, will soon be installed on PAL aircraft, enhancing passenger experience with their modular design, optimized space, and modern amenities. The partnership also reflects PAL’s commitment to supporting local industry while offering passengers top-tier comfort and safety.

Stanley Ng, PAL president, expressed pride in the collaboration: “Being the first airline in the country to install locally made seats is a milestone for our fleet enhancement program.”

Collins Aerospace’s Philippine facility, established in 2012, already manufactures a variety of cabin interior products, including galleys and oxygen equipment. In 2024, it launched a new main cabin seating line, further expanding its workforce and solidifying its role in the Philippines’ growing aerospace industry.

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is a global leader in aerospace and defense, employing over 80,000 people worldwide.
