Far Eastern University (FEU) has renewed its partnership with First Gen Corporation to directly supply renewable electricity to its campuses in Manila and Alabang, a move aimed at boosting operational efficiency and sustainability. The agreement, finalized in November, will see First Gen provide 600 kilowatts (kW) of power to FEU’s Alabang campus and 650 kW to the FEU Institute of Technology near the Manila campus.
“We aim to minimize our environmental footprint while maximizing academic impact,” said FEU president Juan Miguel Montinola. “This partnership, alongside our energy-efficient systems, supports our commitment to renewable energy, including power we generate ourselves.”
First Gen, a leader in renewable energy in the Philippines, first began supplying power to FEU’s Manila campus in 2017 through the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program. The latest expansion helps FEU further its decarbonization efforts.
“We are privileged to support FEU’s sustainability goals as they continue their decarbonization journey,” said Carlo Vega, vice president for marketing, Trading, and Economics at First Gen. The company, with a portfolio of 3,668 MW of combined capacity, remains a key player in the country’s energy security and transition to cleaner energy.
