The Philippine Airlines (PAL) has resumed its popular direct flights between Cebu and Osaka, marking a key milestone for both the airline and the region. Starting with three weekly flights, PAL is operating the route with a 199-seat Airbus A321ceo airliner. The frequency will increase to four weekly flights from 26 February 2025.
PAL president and COO, Captain Stanley K. Ng, emphasized the significance of offering more convenient access for both leisure and business travelers between Cebu and Osaka. He also noted that the airline aims to attract Japanese tourists to explore Cebu and the broader Philippines.
The return of this route is seen as a major step in restoring global connectivity to Cebu, with Athanasios Titonis, CEO of Aboitiz InfraCapital GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation, highlighting the importance of the partnership between PAL and Cebu’s Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in revitalizing international travel.
Osaka, a bustling hub known for its rich history, culture, and attractions like Universal Studios Japan and Osaka Castle, serves as a gateway to nearby cities like Kyoto and Kobe. PAL is also promoting Cebu as the perfect launchpad to visit other popular destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao, offering seamless connections to multiple domestic routes.
This service complements PAL’s twice-daily flights between Manila and Osaka and reinforces the airline’s strong presence in the Philippines-Japan market, which includes several routes to Tokyo and other major Japanese cities.
