Kaspersky joins EU AI pact to promote ethical, secure AI practices

Kaspersky has committed to the European Commission’s AI Pact, a key initiative aimed at fostering trustworthy AI practices across Europe. This strategic move supports the implementation of the EU’s AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive legal framework governing AI technologies, set to be fully enforceable by 2026.

By signing the pledge, Kaspersky aligns with the EU’s mission to ensure that AI systems are deployed safely, ethically, and responsibly. The company has committed to three core actions: adopting an AI governance strategy, mapping high-risk AI systems for compliance, and raising AI literacy among its staff. Additionally, Kaspersky will focus on assessing potential risks AI systems pose to individual rights and will work to ensure transparency when employees interact with AI technologies.

Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and founder, emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with risk management in AI adoption. “As AI technologies proliferate, responsible implementation is crucial to fostering trust,” he stated, reinforcing the company’s long-standing advocacy for AI literacy and security.

With nearly two decades of expertise in AI-powered cybersecurity, Kaspersky is uniquely positioned to assist other organizations in navigating the challenges of secure AI deployment. The company also shared best practices at the 2024 UN Internet Governance Forum, underscoring the need for ethical AI use in cybersecurity.

Kaspersky’s involvement in the AI Pact reflects its broader commitment to advancing secure AI solutions, building on its research from the Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center. The company’s leadership in AI-driven cybersecurity continues to set industry standards for both innovation and safety.
