Megaworld Corp. is accelerating its expansion with plans to launch at least two new townships in 2025. These new developments, spanning more than 300 hectares, will be located in key growth regions across Luzon and the Visayas.
The listed township development arm of tycoon Andrew Tan aims to further bolster its regional presence, a move aligned with its broader goal of driving local economic growth and job creation outside Metro Manila.
“As we work towards helping cities grow their local economies and provide job opportunities, we are focused on further expanding our township portfolio in the regions,” said Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld. “These two townships have expansive land areas which will further boost our land bank.”
The push is part of a broader strategy to diversify its portfolio of integrated developments, which includes residential, commercial, and leisure facilities. Megaworld launched last year four new townships, also covering over 300 hectares. These included the Lialto Golf and Beach Estates in Batangas, San Benito Private Estate in Lipa City, Ilocandia Coastown in Laoag, and The Upper Central in Cagayan de Oro.
Currently, 69 percent of Megaworld’s townships are located outside Metro Manila, with 16 in Luzon, six in the Visayas, and two in Mindanao. The company has increasingly targeted provincial growth areas, recognizing the importance of decentralized urbanization in national development.
Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Megaworld’s parent company, Alliance Global Group, said the role of these townships in the country’s tourism sector. “Aligned with our vision on tourism, many of these townships are drivers of tourism in their respective locations,” Tan said. “We build hotels, museums, resorts, malls, sports and leisure facilities, and many other attractions to support the tourism industry.”
Megaworld’s continued expansion signals a growing focus on provincial growth and integrated community development.
