Clark International Airport building country’s tallest air traffic control tower

Clark, Philippines — The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) announced Friday that the construction of the country’s tallest Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower is on track to be completed by the second quarter of 2025.

The 18-story tower, standing at 54 meters, is poised to become a striking new landmark for travelers on the Subic Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and those heading to Clark International Airport.

CIAC president Jojit Alcazar highlighted the strategic importance of the new ATC, stating, “The tower will become an outstanding asset of the Marcos administration and is aimed at improving facilities servicing the world-class Clark International Airport.” He said the ATC’s advanced systems would bolster Clark’s air traffic control capabilities, ensuring increased safety and efficiency as air travel volumes rise.

This development is part of a broader effort to position Clark International Airport as a central hub in the region. The new ATC tower will complement other flagship projects, including the National Food Hub, a World Convention and Events Center, and a Multi-Modal Mobility Hub. These initiatives are expected to contribute to economic growth by attracting more investments and tourists.

The Clark Air Traffic Control Project, awarded to MSV Construction and Supplies, is being funded by CIAC’s parent company, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The tower’s construction follows extensive training for engineers and specialists from CIAC and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, who recently completed courses on air traffic communication, navigation, and surveillance systems from manufacturers based in Norway and Italy.

As the land development and aviation arm of BCDA, CIAC is pivotal in managing the area surrounding Clark International Airport, positioning it as a prime location for business and development in Central Luzon. The completion of the new ATC tower is expected to significantly enhance the airport’s operational capacity, further driving economic progress in the region.
