PLDT Inc. on Tuesday announced the successful completion of its Asia Direct Cable (ADC) System, boosting the country’s international connectivity. The 9,988-kilometer fiber-optic subsea cable system links the Philippines to key regional hubs such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and China, providing low-latency, high-capacity connections for hyperscalers and multinational enterprises.
The ADC’s operational readiness strengthens the Philippines’ position as a strategic destination for international businesses. It enhances PLDT’s connectivity portfolio, complementing other systems like the Jupiter Cable System, and ensuring diversified, reliable routes to Asia-Pacific’s core markets. This will support the digital transformation of businesses and the government, positioning the country as a regional hyperscale hub.
By boosting international capacity by over 100Tbps, the ADC underscores PLDT’s commitment to advancing the Philippines’ digital infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and driving the country’s alignment with global connectivity needs. The ADC is expected to be ready for service in the first quarter of 2025.
PLDT continues investing in its network and infrastructure, aiming to foster economic development, close the digital divide, and support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
