The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday reported having seized luxury vehicles worth an estimated P1.4 billion, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maybachs, and Maseratis. The operation, led by the BOC’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), arose from intelligence reports about allegedly smuggled cars being sold online.
The seized vehicles were found in two locations: AC Che Gong Miao in Pasay and TopCar Specialist and Trading Corp. in Parañaque. The operation signals the BOC’s shift toward more aggressive enforcement, as commissioner Bien Rubio warned smugglers that the agency’s vigilance extends far beyond the ports. Those responsible for the warehouses are now required to submit documents proving the vehicles’ legitimate importation or face charges under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
The seizure underscores the importance of strict adherence to customs regulations, as the BOC continues to crack down on smuggling operations in the Philippines.
