MPower expands reach with 60-store Starbucks PH contract

MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manila Electric Company, has signed an agreement with Rustan Coffee Corporation to supply electricity to selected Starbucks branches in Metro Manila.

The deal covers 60 stores with a total power demand of over 3 megawatts, grouped under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). The setup allows multiple locations to combine their electricity demand, helping businesses lower costs and improve efficiency.

Rustan Coffee said the move supports both savings and sustainability goals. Its stores already use energy- and water-saving measures, such as LED lighting, efficient air-conditioning, and improved waste management.

The company began joining the RAP in November 2025 and has since seen early reductions in electricity expenses, according to its president, Noey Lopez.

MPower, meanwhile, said the partnership highlights how businesses—especially those with multiple locations—can benefit from the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) system, which promotes supplier choice and competitive pricing.

The company added it will continue offering flexible and cost-efficient energy solutions to help businesses operate more effectively.
