Greenfield builds green spine linking homes to MRT

Greenfield Development Corp. has broken ground on a one-kilometer “Diagonal Park,” a pedestrian-first corridor designed to stitch together Greenfield District and provide a direct, safer link to the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3 via Shaw Boulevard Station.

The project marks a shift in how the developer is shaping the district, moving beyond vertical growth toward connected, walkable ground-level spaces that prioritize mobility and daily convenience.

At the center of the first phase is a 20-meter-wide walkway cutting through the Mayflower Park block toward Greenfield Tower. The route is designed to shorten travel time on foot between offices, residences, and transport nodes, reducing reliance on vehicle access within the district.

“The groundbreaking marks the beginning of a new flow of life in Greenfield District,” said Duane A.X. Santos. “It’s a one-kilometer stretch from one end of EDSA all the way to Sheridan. It’s a green spine that will redefine the district.”

Once completed, the corridor is expected to function as more than a walkway. Plans include landscaped open spaces and retail pockets that encourage everyday activity, from commuting and jogging to informal gatherings. The park will also connect major developments such as Twin Oaks Place, Zitan, and The Portal, effectively linking the district’s residential, commercial, and lifestyle zones.

Santos said the project reflects a broader design philosophy that puts livability on equal footing with growth. “Prosperity is of no use if the well-being of the community is not taken into account,” he said, underscoring the role of shared public space in modern urban development.

When fully built, Diagonal Park is expected to serve as a central pedestrian artery, reinforcing Greenfield District’s transformation into a more integrated, transit-connected urban hub.
