DA turns over ₱65.6-M rice processing facility in Nueva Ecija

The Department of Agriculture has handed over a ₱65.6-million rice processing facility to the Talabutab Norte Primary Multipurpose Cooperative in General Mamerto Natividad, Nueva Ecija, under the RCEF Mechanization Program. The system includes a modern rice mill and three mechanical dryers, serving over 11,000 local farmers. It will cut postharvest losses, improve grain quality, and let farmers keep more earnings from their palay by reducing reliance on commercial processors. PHilMech pledged ongoing training and support to ensure sustainable operations. Extended by law until 2031 with increased funding, the program lowers production costs by ₱2–₱3 per kilo and cuts losses by 3 percent to 5 percent.
