    Super Typhoon Julian agri damage estimated at P481.27M

    Damage to the agriculture sector attributable to super typhoon Julian is initially estimated at P481.27 million, according to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center of the Department of Agriculture.

    The DA attached agency said the damage ruined 19,151 metric tons of goods tended by 20,134 farmers and fisherfolk in 13,488 hectares of farm land.

    The DA captured data reflect damage sustained by farmers in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

    The rice sector sustained the most damage estimated at P348.42 million equivalent to 17,585 MT of palay.

    Corn crop damage was estimated at P35.75 million as 1,514 MT of the crop was lost.

    Another P92.68 million worth of irrigation facilities were in ruins as P3.96 million worth of high-value crops and P472,550 more in livestock and poultry was lost.
