Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. (MICO) has appointed Eden R. Tesoro as chief operations officer (COO) and Adelo A. Abeleda as chief underwriting officer (CUO). These leadership changes come as the company prepares to celebrate its 95th anniversary.
Tesoro, previously senior vice president and CUO, will leverage her experience, including her role as chairperson of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association, to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Abeleda, who has been with MICO for 11 years, will implement tactical underwriting strategies in his new role.
MICO, a leading non-life insurance provider in the Philippines since 1930, aims to strengthen its market position while honoring its legacy of trust. Paolo Y. Abaya, MICO president and CEO, highlighted the importance of these appointments in driving the company’s resilience and commitment to its customers.
The company holds a financial strength rating of B++ from A.M. Best and has received several awards for its services.
