STT Fairview 1 Data Center set to boost AI demand in PH

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines announced on Thursday that the initial phase of STT Fairview 1 data center is on schedule to launch by Q2 2025. When fully operational, the facility will be the largest data center in the country, boasting an impressive IT capacity of 124 megawatts.

Positioned to support the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, the STT Fairview campus will be carrier-neutral, offering seamless connectivity and incorporating advanced energy-efficient technologies to ensure sustainable operations.

“We remain committed to delivering on our project timelines. Last year, we projected that STT Fairview would be ready in the first part of 2025, and we are on schedule to deliver the initial capacity by Q2 2025,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.

Despite recent expansions, STT GDC continues to report robust demand for its services, maintaining high capacity utilization. This reflects strong market confidence and reinforces the company’s commitment to both existing and new customers.

According to the Department of Trade and Industry, AI is projected to contribute 12 percent of the Philippines’ GDP, approximately $92 billion, by 2030. Statista forecasts the country’s AI industry will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 28.57 percent, reaching $3.5 billion by 2030, up from the current $772 million.

Looking ahead, STT GDC plans to leverage its expanded capacity to attract major cloud service providers, combining global expertise with deep local market insights.

As a joint venture among Globe, Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres—which operates 95 data centers across 11 countries—STT GDC Philippines plays a vital role in enhancing the region’s digital infrastructure.

“Our designs are built around the current and future requirements of hyperscalers, and our ability to deliver on our commitments is underpinned by the ongoing development of local technical talent,” Malana said.

Sustainability remains a core focus for STT GDC Philippines, as the company integrates innovative technologies to minimize environmental impact while improving operational efficiency. This strategy aligns expansion efforts with sustainability goals, attracting investment and creating long-term value for stakeholders.
