A new chapter for CIBI: Pia Arellano takes the helm as CEO

CIBI Information, Inc., the country’s first and only local credit bureau, is embarking on a transformative journey with the appointment of Pia Arellano as its new president and CEO. Known for her impressive track record in banking, financial services, payments, remittance, and telecommunications, Pia brings nearly three decades of experience to the role, positioning CIBI for greater innovation and expansion in the rapidly evolving financial landscape.

Pia joins CIBI from TransUnion Philippines, where she served as president and CEO. Before her tenure at TransUnion, Pia held leadership roles at Visa as the head of sales and senior director for the Philippines and Guam, and launched Citibank’s Ready Credit product in the Philippines early in her career. She is a BS Economics cum laude graduate from the University of the Philippines, a background that has been integral to her success in driving profit and growth across highly competitive industries.

Francis Estrada, chairman of the Board for CIBI, expressed confidence in Pia’s leadership, stating, “We are delighted to have Pia lead CIBI at this exciting stage. Her strong business acumen and deep relationships across key industries will be crucial in driving our strategic vision. We look forward to achieving new heights under Pia’s leadership, solidifying CIBI’s role as a catalyst for financial inclusion and economic growth.”

Pia’s appointment marks a pivotal moment for CIBI, a company that has been a cornerstone of the country’s financial infrastructure for decades. Under her leadership, the company is poised to further strengthen its position as a leader in credit solutions, identity verification, and fraud prevention — critical services that are becoming increasingly essential as the country continues to digitize and integrate into the global economy.

Reflecting on her new role, Pia said, “I am deeply honored to be leading CIBI — a company with a long and rich history as the country’s first credit bureau, deeply rooted in supporting our country’s financial infrastructure. We remain staunchly committed to being a key driver of nation-building, and I look forward to collaborating with our customers, stakeholders, and partners in achieving this vision.”
