VITRO Inc., the data center arm of ePLDT, is planning to construct a new AI-ready facility in Southern Luzon to meet the growing demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) solutions from businesses. “We are confident about the data center industry’s potential,” said Victor S. Genuino, ePLDT and VITRO president and CEO, stressing that the new center will have a capacity of at least 100 megawatts.
Genuino emphasized the importance of South Luzon for future data center expansion, with VITRO’s Santa Rosa site positioned as a strategic hub. As the first company in the Philippines to offer AI infrastructure, VITRO aims to become the nation’s leading provider of end-to-end AI services, including soon-to-launch graphics processing unit-as-a-Service (GPUaaS).
The announcement follows the activation of VITRO’s Santa Rosa Data Center (VSR), the country’s most advanced AI-ready hyperscale facility, now energized with power from Meralco’s 115 kV switching station. VSR also offers enhanced connectivity, including interconnection with other VITRO sites and the VITRO Internet Exchange, supporting the country’s richest IP ecosystem.
In collaboration with VITRO, ePLDT will pioneer GPUaaS in the Philippines, enabling clients to access high-powered AI resources on-demand. This innovative service, designed for applications like Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLM), allows businesses to scale operations efficiently without significant upfront investment in hardware. The move signals a major step toward making the Philippines a leading digital hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
