Venture partners power 3MW solar rooftop for Nexperia

Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise Inc. (FREE), a joint venture between the Filinvest Group and ENGIE Services Philippines, has successfully completed a 3-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar rooftop installation for Nexperia Philippines, Inc. at its assembly and testing facility at the Light Industry and Science Park I.

The project marks a strategic addition to FREE’s expanding clean energy portfolio, which now stands at 17 MWp, and underscores the company’s mission to accelerate the country’s shift to low-carbon industrial solutions.

Juan Eugenio Roxas, president and CEO of FDC Utilities and FREE, emphasized the significance of the project during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “As Filinvest celebrates 70 years, this project is a testament to our commitment to support reliable and sustainable operations for our industrial clients like Nexperia,” Roxas said, highlighting how the system helps shield critical operations from grid price volatility.

Nexperia’s facility, which manufactures up to a billion semiconductor components annually, will benefit from enhanced energy resilience and reduced carbon emissions. Gareth Hughes, Nexperia Philippines vice president and general manager, praised the installation’s performance, noting its reliable, real-time energy output and the company’s pioneering role in clean energy adoption within its global network.

Jean-Baptiste Dreanic, managing director of ENGIE Services Philippines, noted the broader vision of the partnership. “This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to low-carbon, energy-efficient infrastructure for industrial leaders in the Philippines.”

The Cabuyao project follows FREE’s earlier solar rooftop launch for Merasenko Corp. in Cebu and complements other commercial-scale installations such as the 2.8 MWp project at Festival Supermall in Alabang and a partnership with APO Cement Corp.

FREE’s latest milestone aligns with the Filinvest Group’s long-term strategy to foster environmental sustainability and energy security across Philippine industries, reinforcing its role as a key enabler of future-ready infrastructure.
