Broadband and technology leader Converge ICT Solutions Inc. continues to reinforce its commitment to digital responsibility through the sustained implementation of Project PIGLET (Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies), a flagship youth-focused privacy awareness campaign.
The latest session of Project PIGLET was held at Timoteo Paez Elementary School in Pasay City, engaging 80 Grade 6 students and 20 parents. Spearheaded by the Corporate Governance and Data Privacy (CGDP) Group, the program uses storytelling and interactive activities to instill safe online habits among young learners.
“At Converge, our evolution into a full-fledged tech company means carrying with us the responsibility of promoting safe digital practices, especially among vulnerable groups,” said Laurice Esteban-Tuason, Converge corporate compliance and data protection officer. She emphasized the potential risks emerging from unchecked technology use, such as online exploitation.
Through narratives like ‘Captain Conrad and the Astro Friends’, the program simplifies complex privacy concepts into engaging content for children, as highlighted by privacy compliance officer Larry Caduada. School principal Jeanne Rejuso praised the program for empowering students to protect themselves online not just physically but also emotionally and psychologically.
Janine Villabeto-Solete, Converge data privacy manager, stressed the growing need to target children in digital literacy efforts, noting their heightened exposure to online risks post-pandemic.
Project PIGLET’s impact has been recognized at the national level, being named a finalist for the National Privacy Commission’s “Privacy Initiative of the Year” during Privacy Awareness Week in June.
The initiative also enhances Converge’s corporate and commercial reputation, reinforcing its brand as a socially responsible tech firm invested in long-term digital literacy, youth welfare, and privacy protection. The program forms part of a broader series of activities the company held in observance of Privacy Awareness Week (July 14–25), reflecting its sustained commitment to data protection.
