SMC Tollways Corp. reported a small increase in profit for the first nine months of 2025, supported by higher vehicle traffic across its toll roads.
The company posted a net income of P7.37 billion from January to September, up 1 percent from P7.26 billion a year earlier. Revenue rose 6 percent to P16.57 billion, compared with P15.67 billion in the same period in 2024.
Traffic volumes improved in the third quarter. SMC Skyway Corp. recorded an average daily traffic of 283,106 vehicles, up 3 percent from 2024, while SMC Skyway Stage 3 Corp. posted 176,165 vehicles, a 10 percent increase.
Costs also climbed. Consolidated service costs were up 3 percent, mainly due to higher government fees, more spending on repairs and maintenance, and increased contracted services. Operating expenses jumped 32 percent because of higher management fees, taxes, contracted services, and other costs such as insurance and advertising.
Meanwhile, the company is continuing construction of the TR4 project, a 66.74-km toll road linking Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Lucena City, Quezon. The P50-billion project is expected to be completed in 2026 and aims to cut travel time between the two points from three hours to just 45 minutes. The road will be built in six sections, spanning Batangas, Laguna, and Quezon provinces.
